Personal and Early Life

He was born on 20 November 1929 at Govindpura, Punjab province ( which is now part of Pakistan ) in Sikh family. In Milkha Singh Family He was one of 15 siblings, 8 whom are died before partition of India .During the partition of India he become orphaned his parents and one brother two sister were killed by violence that ensued .Where killing of Hindu and Sikhs continuously they moved to Delhi , India , 1947 .Singh lived short time with the family of his married sister and was imprisoned in Tihar jail due to travelling in train without ticket .
His sister Ishvar sold some jewellery for his release. He spent some time at refugee camp in Purana Qila and resettlement colony in Shahadara both located in Delhi . Milkha Singh Wife Name is Nirmala Saini , Singh met Nirmala Saini who is a former captain of Indian volleyball team in Ceylon in 1955.
