Dr. APJ Abdul kalam was a great Indian Aerospace scientist who served India as President 2002 – 2007 During his presidency ,He was Considered “ The people’s president ” of India. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, during his appointment at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) , played a key role in developing India’s Ballistic Missile Technology. Later, while working in Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), he head of team which developed SLV-III, India’s first Satellite Launch Vehicle, which successfully placed the Rohini satellite in orbit in 1980. For his contribution to Missiles and Development of Defence Technology He was Considered as “ Missile Man of India ” He also played a pivotal organizational, technically, and political role in India’s Pokhran-II did nuclear tests in 1998, the first since the original nuclear test by India in 1974. Personal Life

APJ Abdul Kalam Full Name is ” Dr. Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam ” was born on 15 oct 1931 in Rameshwaram village which is located in Tamil Nadu . APJ Abdul kalam father name is Jainulabdeen . His father is owned a boat that took a Hindu pilgrims back and forth between Rameshwaram to Dhanushkodi and Imam of local mosque. His mother name is Ashiamma Jainulabdeen she was a housewife. Kalam was youngest of five siblings ( four brothers & one sister ) .

APJ Abdul Kalam Ancestors had been wealthy traders and landowners with numerous of properties and tract of land .their business involved also trading of groceries between mainland and island to from Srilanka as well as ferrying pilgrims between mainland and Pamban their family acquired a tittle” Mara Kalam Iyakkivar ” which means ” boat wooden steerers ” it also called as Marakier .

In 1914 opening of Pamban bridge to mainland , however their business failed and their fortune and property were lost over time , apart form accentors home. In childhood his early age Kalam family had become poor. He sold a newspaper to Supplement his family incomes. Kalam had average grade in school but he is described strong desired to learn. He spent hour for his studies especially in mathematics .After he completed his education from the Schwartz higher secondary school, which is located in Ramanathpuram . After Kalam moved to attend saint Joseph’s College ,Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu.

Then concern with university of Madras, from where he graduated in physics in 1954. He moved to Madras in 1955 And completed aeronautical engineering from Madras Institute of technology While Kalam working as senior class project, the dean there was disappointed with his lack & low of progress and threatened to revoke his scholarship unless the project was finished within next three days . Kalam finished his project and impressing the dean. Who later said to him ” I putting you under stress and I wanted to you finished your work till deadline“.
Kalam missed realizing his dream of becoming a fighter pilot. Only just as he placed ninth qualifier and only eight position were available in the Indian Air Force (IAF)

Professional Life

Dr. Kalam Joined Defence Research and Development organisation ( DRDO ) in 1958. As a Scientist he become member of Defence Research & Development service ( DRDS ) . he started his working as designing of small hovercraft but later he unconvinced by his choice of job at DRDO .

Kalam was concerned with INCOSPAR committee which work under in Vikram Sarabhai . In 1969 Kalam was transferred to Indian space research organisation (ISRO) where he was project director of SLV-lll which successful deployed the Rohini Satellite which near of Earth orbit in July 1980.

In 1970 to 1990 he put effort to develop Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle ( PSLV ) and SLV-lll both which proved to be successful. For his contributions to the development of missiles and defence technology, he was known as the “Missile Man of India” for his work on the development of “ballistic missiles” and “launch vehicle technology“. He also played a pivotal organisational , technically, and political role in India’s Pokhran-II did nuclear tests in 1998, the first since the original nuclear test by India in 1974.

In 1998, Kalam along with cardiologist Soma Raju, Kalam put his efforts and developed a low cost coronary stent, which named the “Kalam-Raju Stent“. In 2012, the duo designed a rugged tablet computer for health care in rural areas, which named later as “Kalam-Raju Tablet“.

He won the 2002 election with an electoral vote 922,884.
Surpassing the vote 107,366 votes won by Lakshmi Saghal. He served India as president 2002 – 2007 .
His term as president APJ Abdul Kalam consider as The people’s president. APJ Abdul kalam aimed to inspire the youth and promoting the education ,innovation, and scientific research. Dr. APJ Abdul kalam ,aimed to transform India into a Developed nation by the year 2020 . the vision focused on Several keys likes : Economics Growth, Education, Healthcare , Agriculture , Infrastructure .His vision Inspired many to work towards a Progressive and self-reliant India.

At his end of his term on 20 June 2007 , Kalam expressed his willingness to consider a second term in office provided there was certainty about his victory in 2007 election . after two days later he decided to contest the presidential election again stating that he wanted to avoid involving Rashtrapati bhavan from any political process.

Death


Kalam travelled to Shillong to deliver a lecture on ” Creating a livable planet Earth ” at Indian  institute management of Shillong on 27 July  2015.
While climbing The flight of stairs he felt some unwellness but after a brief rest  he entered in auditorium  around at  6:35 p.m. IST ( Indian standard time ) , only five minutes of his lecture he was collapsed . He soon nearby Bethany hospital in critical condition in coming of arrival , his pulse lacked and any other signs of life.
Few hour later kalam sir was confirmed dead of sudden cardiac arrest at 7:45 p.m. IST, APJ Abdul kalam Death Date is 27 July  2015.
